Here you can learn about sustainability, what it means and how we can all lead a more sustainable life.
The UK Government’s definition of sustainabibility is “Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.
What this means is using the resources we need to live our lives, but not using so much that there will be nothing left for people in the future.
Things that will not run out can also be described as being sustainable. Wind, solar and hydroelectric power are sustainable sources of energy, but fossil fuels are unsustainable as there is a limited amout of them available for us to use.
This section of the site looks at two apects of modern life that have a serious, unsustainable impact unpon the environment – mobile phones and how we deal with the waste we produce.
